Is the Pledge of Allegiance Unconstitutional? |

A federal judge in Sacramento ruled Wednesday that it is unconstitutional to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools. U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton ruled that the pledge's reference to one nation "under God" violates the right of children in the public schools to be "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God."
Once again, the driving force behind this case is Michael Newdow, an attorney and medical doctor who won a similar decision at the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in 2002. That court ruled that Newdow, an atheist, had successfully made his case that requiring his daughter to recite the pledge of allegiance with the words "under God" violated his own first amendment freedoms. In essence, the California-based appeals court ruled that the mere presence of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance constituted an establishment of religion by the government.
The 2002 decision sent shockwaves across the country, but that decision was set aside last year by the U.S. Supreme Court. Nevertheless, the nation's High Court dismissed the case after ruling that Newdow lacked standing because he did not have custody of his daughter at the time the suit was filed. Given the Supreme Court's decision not to rule on the actual merits of Newdow's argument, the stage was set for a second round of litigation. |

Our mission is to give Glory to God and Christ by providing the truth through our apologetics and research ministry. We have included, bible studies, articles on church heresy and apostasy, articles defending the faith through apologetics, multiple news feeds from around the world and more.
In addition, we have just added a new category, "Book Reviews." Many of the authors of these books have had their articles published on our web site.
Is is hoped that the compilation of these articles will provide a greater understanding of our Christian Faith and Doctrines and be a source of research for the inquisitive. My research in Christian apologetics, doctrine and theology has brought me in contact with many sites and resources that contained excellent information. I have compiled these articles that I have been using in conjunction with my ongoing research. I have posted all of them here to be shared by other who are seeking the truth in Christianity.
There are over 460 articles contained here and many are written by many of the leading authorities on Christian doctrine and apologetics, including Ray Comfort, Matthew Slick, Walter Martin and others. Also, included are many personal testimonies of those who came to Christ from various social and cultural backgrounds.
We have attempted to place each article in its appropriate category, as some articles could have been placed in more than one section. If you find an article that may have been misplaced in its category, please contact us.
If you have an article that you believe should be published here, we encourage you to contact us.
Also, we are striving to provide the latest news and information on todays social and cultural issues affecting our church and lives through our up-to-the-minute news-feeds and and other sources.
Faithfully yours,
Walt Dimmock

A Southern Baptist Pastor Shares Concern Over Seeker-Sensitive Churches |
|

A Little BackgroundPermit me to begin by mentioning that I have been in the field of apologetics, and involved in ministry to what the late Dr. Walter Martin called the “Kingdom of the Cults,” for the better part of 15 years. I also pastor Connecticut River Baptist Church, a small group of serious believers not too far from Keene State and Dartmouth colleges. In addition, I work in the local high school, and I am head coach of its varsity football team.
I would also like you to know that I write from an Evangelical position, with my theological belief system being what I see as a nice blend of the emphasis on the deeper life like A.W. Tozer, with the no nonsense approach to the Christian world view as shown by Dr. Martin. This would hardly place me in any “radical” fringe section of our Lord’s Church, nor thankfully, does it position me in the mainstream of it either. My point being, I am a Christian first, who just happens to work with the Southern Baptist denomination.
The Inherent Danger Of Man PowerNow, if one has become enamored with what’s become known in some sections of the Body of Christ as seeker-sensitive churches, they would no doubt be happy to see huge congregations like Willow Creek and Lakewood all thriving under the apparent blessing of God. However, it is time for a critical question to be asked: Is it actually God Who is blessing, or might it instead be that the Lord is simply standing back and letting man have his own way? Scripture shows us how, with distressing regularity, time and time again, this has happened in the history of His having to deal with the prideful creatures we are. |
